Choosing the right tree surgeon is a very important task. Picking someone without the proper knowledge and experience can lead to damage being done to property, and even people. There are certain things to take into consideration that can help you find the best tree surgeon for your needs.
One simple thing you can ask a tree surgeon to see if it is someone you will want to deal with is “do you have insurance?”. Any arborist who has been in business for any amount of time knows the importance of maintaining adequate insurance. This is something that any knowledgeable tree surgeon knows is important because of the nature of the job. Steer clear from those who do not protect themselves and their clients.

Another thing to keep in mind is that just because someone claims to be a tree surgeon, it doesn’t mean they are truly qualified. Anyone can take out an advertisement or have a listing in the phone book. An ad or phone listing has nothing to do with doing the job properly and safely.

Every true tree surgeon has to be trained, and when they complete their training they will receive a certificate. This leads to them having the proper knowledge of how and when to use the proper equipment so that no harm will be done during the work they are performing. They will also be educated in the field of arboriculture. If you see an advertisement or a telephone listing that includes these qualifications, then this could be someone you will want to learn more about. Any reputable tree surgeon will not have a problem showing you any certificates or proof of insurance to show that they are truly a professional.

Asking for a quote is another way you can tell if the tree surgeon you are considering is worthy of doing the job you need done. Every good tree surgeon will be able to supply you a quote before they take the job. Any tree surgeon who refuses this request should not be considered for your job.

While it is not a standard in the industry, you can also ask if the company or person you are considering belongs to any related professional organizations. While this is not a requirement, it will show that they are committed to their work, which could move them up on your list provided they meet all of the other qualifications. You may also want to consider asking for references. Any experienced tree surgeon who has a good reputation and happy customers will be glad to let you speak to someone who has dealt with them before.

When you get a quote in writing, be sure to check for all of the information that should be included. This means the company telephone number, address, and name should be on the quote they give you. It should also indicate what precautions they will be taking to protect you and your property. It should also list in complete detail what is going to be included in the job. They should also inform you what is going to happen with any debris that will be left after they have completed the job.

There are things to be wary of that could be an indicator that the tree surgeon you are considering may not be the most reputable. Any company or individual that solicits business door to door may be someone you may want to think twice about using. Also be wary of any tree surgeon that only uses a cell phone and doesn’t have a land-line. Another key is to avoid any tree surgeon who includes topping as one of their services. Any reputable tree surgeon will not perform this service as they know that it is actually harmful to trees.

By keeping these tips in mind, you will be able to find a reputable and experienced tree surgeon that will get your job done right, and also have it done safely. Now that you know how to find a good tree surgeon, you can feel more confident with any company or individual you decide to hire in the future.
